Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems.
The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously!
We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM, and we are growing fast after securing €100 million of funding in 2025 to develop our unique technology.
Currently 100+ and counting, between physicists, PhD students, engineers and experienced business professionals, we are united to reach our ambitious goal. Are you a quantum pioneer? Join us on a mission to reshape the future!
The Mechanical & Electrical Technician will be responsible for the assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cryostat systems and instrumentation racks used in our quantum computing research and development. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both mechanical and electrical engineering, with hands-on experience working with precision for mechanical devices and high-performance RF electronic components.
Responsibilities
Perform the daily and new assembling inside cryostats operations following established procedures, within set time-frames, and using the provided equipment.
Assist in the assembly and installation of electronic instrumentation racks, ensuring proper configuration, signal routing, power supply, etc.
Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs mechanisms, RF components etc..
Develop best practices for assembly, testing, and qualification with detailed logs and documentation
Work closely with engineers team to understand requirements and provide technical support for experiments.
Carry out installation maintenance, repairs and system upkeep activities.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and best practices for handling delicate equipment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve fast delivery of new systems (purchasing, stock management,etc..)
Inspect deliveries and track incoming stock.
Monitor stocks of mechanical, cryogenic, RF components, etc.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proficiency in general mechanics (mechanical assembly, reading 2D/3D drawings). Competence in interpreting electrical and mechanical diagrams and bills of materials.
Experience with assembly of precision mechanical, electrical, and electronic prototypes.
Experience in assembling and configuring instrumentation racks, including RF signal wiring, coaxial wiring
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and positive attitude.
Professional English
Nice to have: Experience of working with cryogenic systems, cryostats or similar precision mechanical/electrical instruments. Familiarity with vacuum systems, thermal insulation and low-temperature physics.
