Child and Family Counsellor | Early Intervention Specialist Service | Maroochydore/Sunshine Coast

  • Employment Term: Maximum Term to December 2026, Part-Time (53.2 hours p/f, 7 days per week)

  • Location: Maroochydore

Your part in our UnitingCare team 

The Child and Parenting Support Services in Maroochydore/Sunshine Coast deliver early intervention and prevention services that are aimed at improving children's development and supporting the capacity of those in a parenting role.

This position facilitates the development of quality practice and effective coordination of service delivery to vulnerable young people and their families accessing the service. The service aims at delivering early intervention services for children with the primary focus on children ages 0-12 years but may include children up to the age of 18 years. 

This role includes:

  • Facilitation of parenting programs such as Circle of Security, Tuning into Kids/Teens and others

  • Providing family counselling to families including their children either in office or outreach (families' homes)

  • Providing case management and referral pathways where needed

  • Community involvement via participation in Local Level Alliance meetings and other networking opportunities

  • Case noting and all administrative tasks involved with case management and counselling 

What makes a difference for us?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Social Science or Human Services.

  • demonstrated skills and sound knowledge in working with children, young people and their families using a child centred and family focused approach

  • demonstrated knowledge and ability to utilise therapeutic processes and practices particularly in relation to children and families at risk.

  • Current Drivers Licence.

  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card)

  • Training and experience in facilitating Circle of Security groups preferred but not mandatory
