Position Overview
The Senior Architectural Draftsman is responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings and documentation for architectural projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance with codes, and alignment with design intent. This role requires advanced drafting skills, strong knowledge of building systems and construction methods, and the ability to collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors. The Senior Draftsman also mentors junior drafters and contributes to the efficiency and quality standards of the drafting team.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, sections, elevations, and construction documents using CAD and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
Interpret design concepts and translate them into accurate technical documentation.
Coordinate drawings with structural, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines.
Review drawings for accuracy, compliance with building codes, regulations, and company standards.
Assist architects with design development and presentation materials as needed.
Prepare shop drawing reviews, redlines, and revisions during project execution.
Maintain organized drawing records, project files, and documentation control.
Provide mentorship, guidance, and quality checks for junior draftsmen.
Participate in site visits and inspections to verify design intent and resolve technical issues.
Work closely with contractors and consultants to clarify details and support construction phases.
Qualifications & Skills
Diploma/Degree in Architectural Drafting, Architecture, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience as an Architectural Draftsman, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other drafting/design software.
Strong knowledge of local building codes, zoning regulations, and construction standards.
Excellent technical drawing and detailing skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
Strong communication and coordination skills for cross-discipline collaboration.
Experience mentoring junior team members preferred.
