SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), develops the strategic marketing vision and strategy to meet the marketing needs of the organization. Oversees internal/external communication the organization, branding, marketing, events, promotional activities, and client engagement initiatives. Supervises the Marketing Specialist in the development of media such as fliers, newsletters, billboards, radio/television ads, posters, social media posts, website revisions and calendar updates on the website. Supervises the Project Coordinator in the management and collaboration of projects, event planning, and project creation, implementation, and evaluation. Works with the Board of Directors to create advocacy materials. Provides training for employees of UIHS on procedures and best practices for marketing and communication of information. Works closely with the Communications Team to deliver media and communication projects in a timely, professional manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Manager I
- Coordinates media purchasing (billboards, radio, television, social media, etc.)
- Coordinates multimedia development (radio, television, billboard)
- Coordinates and assists with the development of social media messaging (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, etc.)
- Develops and distributes news releases and coordinates news events for the CEO and/or Board of Directors.
- Shape and strengthen the organization’s brand identity
- Responsible for content development for all communications from the Marketing Department and assists other departments with content development.
- Reviews and edits all material before publication online, in print, or other media venues
- Leads the Communications Team to ensure marketing strategies are implemented and evaluated.
- Trains employees of UIHS to use social media platforms appropriately to create and attain engagement with the audience
- Trains employees of UIHS on how to properly create print media, including clear messaging as well as graphically pleasing
- Maintains calendar of events for UIHS, both internal and external
- Maintains website content with Communication Team, Executive Leadership Team, and Board of Directors recommendations and external graphic design team and makes recommendations for future website revisions
- Works with the CEO to create and update policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that address internal and external communications and marketing for the organization.
- Assists the Marketing Specialist with the creation of publications, brochures, and other marketing and educational materials for the organization.
- Assists the Project Coordinator with the management, planning, and collaboration of events and activities.
- Assists the Project Coordinator with the management of special projects.
- Works with the Executive Leadership to implement a long-range plan to increase membership and continually update the materials.
- Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, Board and Committee meetings as requested/authorized in order to carry out the responsibilities described herein.
- Assists with special projects.
- Assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of UIHS events.
- Assists with the development of policies (POLs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Leads in Strategic Planning efforts to address communication
- Work with the CEO to support communication with Tribal and Community Partners.
- Introduce and utilize data-driven metrics to improve communication and messaging
- Utilize data-driven systems and other evaluation methods to measure marketing success
- Works with the Board of Directors to create advocacy materials.
- Assist the Board of Directors with their communication initiatives.
- Sets up special meetings with various leaders for information sharing and education.
- Provides staff support in maintenance of the Intranet and website backup.
- Develops written, video, and audio materials for business needs.
- Assists in the Development of campaigns for UIHS programs, activities, and initiatives
- Responsible for registration of the UIHS website with search engines, directories, and serves as the point of contact for the hosting and billing functions.
- Manages the department budget.
- Willing to learn more about the American Indian culture and attend at least one Cultural Presentation/Training per year.
- Willing to work with American Indian/Alaska Native people and demonstrate cultural awareness and humility
- Willing to deliver services in a culturally responsive manner.
- Adheres to accreditation and compliance standards/guidelines.

Manager II – All of the above duties and the duties below:
- Leads special projects.
- Leads in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of UIHS events.
- Independently develop campaigns for UIHS programs, activities, and initiatives.
- Independently creates POLs and SOPs.
- Independently develop communication plans and initiatives for departments, programs, and Board of Directors.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervises the Marketing Specialist(s) and Project Coordinator
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Educational degrees must be from a US Department of Education accredited school.
Manager I
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A) in marketing, communications, graphic design, art or other related field and four (4) years of experience in web design, development of marketing materials, creation of social media content, or purchasing and/or coordinating paid media/marketing, and two (2) years of experience leading marketing teams and/or directly supervising staff.
- Associate's degree (A.A.) and a minimum of six (6) years demonstrated experience in web design, development of marketing materials, creation of social media content, or purchasing and/or coordinating paid media/marketing, and three (3) years of experience leading marketing teams and/or directly supervising staff.
- Eight (8) years of demonstrated experience in web design, development of marketing materials, creation of social media content, or purchasing and/or coordinating paid media/marketing, and four (4) years of experience leading a marketing team and/or directly supervising staff.
- Knowledge of desktop publishing and print production
- Must possess demonstrated expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Wordpress, HTML, Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash, CRM, and SharePoint.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, a team player, self-starter, multi-task oriented.
Manager II
- Master’s degree (M.A) in marketing, communications, graphic design, art or other related field and four years of experience in web design, development of marketing materials, creation of social media content, or purchasing and/or coordinating paid media/marketing, and two (2) years of experience leading marketing teams and/or directly supervising staff.
- Bachelors degree (B.A.) and a minimum of six (6) years demonstrated experience in web design, development of marketing materials, creation of social media content, or purchasing and/or coordinating paid media/marketing, and three (3) years of experience leading marketing teams and/or directly supervising staff.
- Associate's degree (A.A.) and a minimum of eight (8) years demonstrated experience in web design, development of marketing materials, creation of social media content, or purchasing and/or coordinating paid media/marketing, and three (3) years of experience leading marketing teams and/or directly supervising staff.
- Ten (10) years of demonstrated experience in web design, development of marketing materials, creation of social media content, or purchasing and/or coordinating paid media/marketing, and four (4) years of experience leading a marketing team and/or directly supervising staff.
