JOB TITLE: Behavioral Consultant
SALARY: 78k – 90k
JOB PURPOSE:
The Behavioral Consultant will serve as a liaison between the Individual, and the Individuals’ support network with the goal of improving safety and facilitating a reduction in behavioral issues promoting improved quality of life. This is a remote position, with occasional travel required to the Calvert County office for training and periodic meetings. Work assignments will be located primarily within Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and Anne Arundel County.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Development of assessments and behavior plans based on person-centered planning.
- Collection and analysis of behavioral data.
- Onsite record review and observation of individuals primary environments.
- Review individuals’ health needs, including medications, environmental factors, and social history related to supporting the person with challenging behaviors.
- Train and monitor implementation of behavior management plans.
- Varied/Flexible work schedule with hours based on clinical need.
- Be knowledgeable of appropriate resources available to caregivers.
- Maintain and document contacts with outside liaisons in multiple settings.
- Work as part of a person-centered planning team to provide quality services.
- Occasional assistance required for Behavior Respite.
- Apply non-aversive behavior management techniques to include physical restraints in the course of behavioral management as needed.
- Developing, writing, presenting and monitoring strategies for working with the individual and his/her caregivers.
- Communicates regularly with families, behavior technicians, staff from various community service providers, including Managers regarding the ongoing needs identified during person-centered planning meetings.
- Provides information related to health care and behavioral concerns to primary physicians and psychiatrists.
- Utilizes crisis prevention, intervention and resolution techniques, matching these to particular circumstances and individuals.
- Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
- Ensure case notes and documentation are accurately and promptly entered in data base.
- Follow agency policies and procedures.
- Maintain interdepartmental communication.
- Attend and participate in all pertinent treatment team and agency meetings, training and activities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Licensed psychologist, professional counselor, LCPC; certified Social Worker, LCSW; licensed behavior analyst, BCBA or LBA or a registered/licensed psychology associate, behavior analyst, working under the license of a psychologist (supervision can be provided in-house)
- Approval by board required within 30 days of employment.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Possesses proficiency in computer Excel, Word.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliable, organized and disciplined to work remotely.
- Has a good command of the English language both oral and written.
- Ability to plan work, organize and maintain workflow while maintaining flexibility to deal with varied tasks and priorities.
- Ability to work in a professional manner with a wide variety of individuals including consultants, provider agencies, families and the public.
- Must have a valid Maryland driver’s license and reliable transportation.
