Position Overview
The Summer Camp Program Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of programming and implementation for The Tech’s seasonal summer camp. This role involves designing, implementing, and managing an engaging camp experience while ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all campers and staff. The ideal candidate will be a creative and organized leader with a passion for summer camp and youth development. This exempt role reports to the Senior Director of Interactive Learning Programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of The Tech Interactive’s STEM based Summer Camp to align with the camp’s mission and goals.
- In collaboration with the Interactive Learning Programs team, use existing resources and curriculum to develop cohesive camp activities and experiences for ages 7 - 12 years old, ensuring that all activities comply with relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Collaborate with the marketing and operations team to develop marketing materials, registration materials and timelines.
- Hire, train, and supervise summer camp staff, ensuring all staff are properly trained and equipped to execute camp activities effectively and safely.
- Foster a positive team environment and provide ongoing support and feedback to camp staff.
- Maintain a camper-focused approach to ensure an inclusive, fun, and memorable experience for all participants.
- Address camper needs and manage behavior issues in collaboration with other leadership staff.
- Enforce all camp policies, safety protocols, and procedures.
- Communicate schedules, updates, and expectations clearly to staff, campers, and relevant Tech Interactive management.
- Manage program-related logistics, including supplies, budgets, and activity materials.
- Annually evaluate and adapt programming to meet the needs and interests of campers.
Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field ie. Education or child development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- 3-5 years demonstrated progressively responsible experience in a leadership or administrative role at a summer camp (Program Manager or Director, Assistant Director, or similar).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Proven ability to provide direction, lead and inspire a team.
- Knowledge of youth development principles and recreational programming.
- Current certifications in First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain).
Working Conditions and Schedule
- This is an onsite position with the possibility of flexibility for working some days at an alternative work location. Flexibility will vary depending on the needs of the job.
- Must be fully available mid-April through the end of August annually.
- Occasionally walks, stands, and lifts objects up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work long hours in an active environment.
- Must possess a valid CA Driver's license and maintain a clean driving record. Ability to be covered by The Tech’s auto insurance based on driving record. This position requires driving to and from job sites as part of regular duties
