Job Title: Maintenance Custodian - Second Shift Department: DISC Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY Maintain the Decatur Indoor Sports Center facility in order to provide the public with a positive impression of the facility. This position is second shift and requires employees to work Tuesday-Saturday from 1pm-9:30pm with an occasional variance in hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains and sets up athletic and program equipment
Maintains, and repairs building and athletic equipment.
Performs periodic maintenance on various equipment and keeps appropriate documentation.
Conducts various facility and equipment inspections on a monthly basis.
Maintain walks and access in the event of inclement weather.
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, burnishes and vacuums all areas of the facility. Empties trash and garbage containers and collects recyclable items for recycling. Cleans and repairs vandalism.
Performs painting where necessary.
Replaces air conditioner filters.
Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
Mows and trims lawn around facility.
Occasionally responsible for closing and locking the building and setting the alarm.
Must be capable of using ladders and lifts, sometimes in high areas.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
