Position Summary: The Study Hall Monitor plays a vital role in supporting the academic focus and behavioral expectations of students during non-instructional periods. This position ensures a structured, quiet, and productive environment in alignment with school policies and academic accountability.
Responsibilities:
1. Supervision and Environment Management
Supervise students during assigned study hall periods.
Enforce behavioral expectations consistent with classroom norms; students must remain quiet, respectful, and on task.
Ensure the study hall remains a distraction-free, academically-focused environment.
2. Academic Accountability
Monitor students’ academic standing daily through Infinite Campus.
Weekly reports provided. More frequent reports will be available upon request.
Enforce the No Phone Policy for students with any failing grade (F) in any course.
Phones must be placed in a designated pocket.
Students are not permitted to use phones even if they claim an assignment was turned in but not yet graded.
3. Attendance and Movement Monitoring
Take accurate attendance within the first 5 minutes of each period using Infinite Campus.
Update any changes in attendance as needed
Authorize student movement only via e-hall pass system and only when appropriate.
4. Communication and Coordination
Communicate concerns regarding student behavior, repeated academic concerns, or attendance issues to counselors and administration.
Engage in appropriate and professional conversations with students, fostering a respectful and supportive environment while maintaining clear boundaries and expectations.
Student Study Hall General Rules:
Students must treat the study hall as they would any academic class.
Students must bring enough academic work to stay engaged the entire period.
Students may only leave with monitor permission and an e-hall pass.
Students with D or F grades are restricted to study hall unless a teacher provides permission to leave.
Students with F in any class may not be on their cell phone. Phone must be turned into the phone pocket.
Assignments must be graded and inputted into Infinite Campus before cell phone privileges are reinstated.
