Long term substitute for social studies teacher. Approximate start date: October 10, 2025 for 13 or 14 weeks. State of Iowa teaching license required. A strong belief system for collaboration with staff members and families.
Extended (16+ days in the same assignment, retroactive to 1st day)
Tier 3: Sub Authorization or Sub License $200/day, $100 half day
Tier 2: Has or held an Iowa teaching license $250/day, $125 half day
Tier 1: Has or held the correct Iowa endorsement for the assignment $275/day, $137.50 half day
The following information will be needed for a substitute teacher position:
- Iowa Teaching License
- Mandatory Reporter: Child Abuse
- Right To Know
- Transcripts
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm to work with students at the designated level.
- Ability to create and maintain healthy relationships with students, staff, parents and community.
- Ability to provide instruction to effectively meet the needs of all students.
- Ability to effectively implement multiple teaching methods (co-teaching, small group, differentiation, etc).
- Knowledge and ability to implement the Iowa Teaching Standards.
- Knowledge of special education, section 504 and MTSS process.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to effectively use technology for instruction, communication and data management.
- Ability to effectively engage in professional growth individually and with collaborative teams.
- Ability to implement federal, state and district goals with students.
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Department of Iowa regulations.
- Knowledge of Federal rights, Privacy Act and other civil rights regulations.
Substitute teachers and nurses are not entitled to and shall not receive a continuing employment contract pursuant to Iowa Code Section 279.15.
Selection Procedure:
Applicants with completed applications will be screened for the interview process. If you are selected for an interview, you will receive a call or email from the person involved with the hiring process. You will receive an email notification if you are not selected for an interview.
