Minimum Requirements: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
(A) Two (2) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in the printing trade, which must have included all of the following, process photography, layout, platemaking and bindery operations, and routine maintenance and repair of related equipment; OR, (B) Successful completion of sixty (60) college-level semester credit hours including eighteen (18) semester credit hours* in in graphic arts, printing, or a closely related field, plus one (1) year of experience as defined in (A); OR, (C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above. *applicants qualifying under option (B) must include a student or official transcript with their application.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: If you are appointed, you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
Desired Qualifications: Proficient in the setup and operation of various high-volume digital printing equipment; Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; Strong multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously; Customer service experience, with the ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person interactions; Familiarity with coil and perfect binding processes; Skilled in finishing tasks such as cutting, hole punching, grommeting, folding, packing, labeling, binding, and numbering; Capable of lifting and moving paper and related materials in excess of 50 pounds; Self-motivated with sound judgment and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; Collaborative team member who maintains positive working relationships and serves as a liaison with departments such as Central Stores, Communications, Instruction, and school-based staff; Experience using Fiery Command WorkStation; Familiar with software including Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Publisher, Photoshop, Canva, and PaperCut job ticketing; Basic design experience, with the ability to assist in production and make necessary digital adjustments to files.
Position Summary/Responsibilities: Setup and operation of various high volume copiers - all of which have the ability to collate, staple, saddle stitch, and fold; Use a hydraulic-powered Docucutter 660 Pro to set up jobs and program precise cutting positions; Use an HP Designjet Z5200 Plotter to print large scale images, posters and outdoor vinyl signs; Use a coil binder and Perfect binder to bind documents to customer specifications; Use an envelope printer to make specialty envelopes; Use programs including Word, Google Docs, Publisher, Photoshop, Canva to design elements for production and make any necessary digital adjustments; Scan submitted paper documents for duplication; Perform finishing work including cutting, hole punching, grommeting, folding, packing, labeling, binding, and numbering; Use PaperCut Job Ticketing software to track and control printing, create print schedules, coordinate workflow, communicate with customers about submitted jobs submitted by customers, arrange for shipping, and generate bills; Lift and move paper and other material as needed (can lift in excess of 50 pounds); Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and act as a liaison between other departments including Central Stores, Communications, Instruction, and various school personnel who routinely use the Print Shop; Provide project leadership on specific print jobs as assigned through PaperCut; Exercise good judgement and work with minimal or no supervision as a productive member of the team; All other duties as assigned.
