NOTE: This is a weekend position, Friday - Sunday, 12-hour shifts.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be experienced with setting up, operating, and maintaining laser cutting machines to cut and shape metal sheets and components according to specifications. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate laser cutting machines (e.g., fiber or CO2 lasers) to cut sheet metal and other materials.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine job specifications and cutting paths.
  • Load and unload metal sheets onto the cutting table using cranes, forklifts, or manually as needed.
  • Perform machine maintenance and cleaning according to schedule and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Monitor cutting process for quality and consistency; make adjustments to machine settings as necessary.
  • Inspect finished parts using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Identify and troubleshoot machine or cutting issues; report major issues to maintenance or supervisors.
  • Record production data and complete required documentation accurately.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times.
  • Assist with material handling, sorting, deburring, and other fabrication tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or vocational certification is a plus).
  • 1+ years of experience operating laser cutting machines (preferred, but not required – training may be provided).
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and cut lists.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with programming software (e.g., CAD/CAM, nesting software).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills.

Preferred Experience (Optional):

  • Experience with brands such as Trumpf, Bystronic, Mazak, Amada, or similar.
  • Familiarity with various metals including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
