Summary
The Seats Technical Product Director serves as the primary technical and product leader during global sales campaigns for Jamco’s seating products. This role bridges technical expertise with customer engagement, ensuring successful sales outcomes while driving the company’s long-term seating strategy. The director will build and maintain deep relationships with airline customers, and influence product development with market insights, to deliver competitive, innovative seating solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Engagement
* Act as the primary technical sales contact during global sales campaigns, traveling as needed to support account managers in closing deals.
* Build and sustain long-term relationships with key airline decision-makers, including executives and technical experts.
* Represent Jamco at industry trade shows, conferences, and customer-specific seat presentations.
* Communicate Jamco’s business class seating value proposition and competitive positioning to customers.
* Negotiate customer contracts, ensuring favorable terms while aligning with company goals.
Product & Market Expertise
* Maintain a deep understanding of the business class seating market, including competitor strengths and weaknesses.
* Provide technical and market input to support product development and innovation.
* Advise engineering teams during seat development, ensuring market requirements are reflected in product design.
* Collaborate with Marketing to develop compelling sales and marketing materials.
Program & Proposal Support
* Partner with Program Management during active customer programs, ensuring issues and assertions are managed to completion.
* Coordinate with the RFQ team to develop compelling, accurate sales proposals.
* Support continuous improvement across Engineering, Certification, Program Management, Manufacturing, Sales, and Quotation processes.
Industry & Certification Leadership
* Maintain thorough knowledge of seat development and certification processes.
* Participate in industry groups such as SAE working groups to represent Jamco and influence standards.
* Provide input to the VP/GM on future seating strategy to ensure long-term business growth.

Education and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
* 10+ years of experience in aerospace seating, cabin interiors, or related technical product management roles.
* Proven success in technical sales, business development, or customer-facing leadership roles.
* Strong understanding of seat development and certification processes.
* Ability to negotiate complex contracts and manage global customer relationships.
* Demonstrated leadership experience managing product or cross-functional teams.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interface at all organizational levels.
* Willingness to travel internationally up to 40–50% of the time.

Skills & Competencies

Language
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
   
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Customer Orientation
Must demonstrate concern and take actions to meet requirements and high standards of quality of both internal and external customers. Must display courtesy and sensitivity while managing difficult situations. Must meet commitments, respond promptly to customer needs, and solicit customer feedback to improve service.

Physical Demands
The physical demands of this role include the ability to sit, stand, and walk for varying periods, as well as clear verbal and auditory communication skills for customer interactions and presentations.
