About This Role

We are seeking an analytical, detail-oriented and proactive professional to join our Finance team in a newly created role. This position is designed to support complex financial reporting and equity allocations, while streamlining automation and improving accuracy across multiple financial workflows. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys diving into data, problem-solving, and building scalable processes in a dynamic and growing organization.

This position reports to the Senior Director of Finance and is based in downtown Santa Monica with a requirement of being in the office 3 days per week.

What You’ll Do

Equity Allocations & Waterfalls

  • Become a subject matter expert on complex deal structures and equity terms, developing a deep understanding of nuances across partnership and unit grant agreements.
  • Maintain and update detailed equity waterfalls across multiple deal structures with varying unit classes and partner terms.
  • Calculate and review allocations of distributions to partners and employees, ensuring accuracy against legal agreements.
  • Support quarterly valuation reporting, including allocations of value across members.

Automation & Process Improvement

  • Lead the finance side of implementing a new equity management software system, including employee portal functionality for equity tracking, vesting schedules, distributions, and related forms.
  • Partner with data engineer to design and execute automation projects that streamline reporting, allocations, and administrative processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy in existing workflows through technology and process improvements.

Special Projects

  • Support finance leadership in ad-hoc projects and decision making.

Requirements

What You Bring

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in working with financial models, cash flow files, and journal entries.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Yardi preferred) and comfort troubleshooting data integrity issues.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Curiosity and initiative to identify process improvements and implement automation solutions.

 

Your Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, or corporate finance.
  • Public accounting, real estate, or investment management industry experience a plus, with direct experience working on equity waterfalls or allocations in partnership structures strongly preferred.
  • CPA, CFA, or progress toward similar credentials preferred but not required.
  • Advanced Excel skills required; exposure to data-driven process improvement a plus.
