The City of Waco Seeks
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Analyst I to support our city's financial planning and management efforts. In this role, you will assist in preparing and administering the annual budget, collaborate with department heads to gather and analyze financial data, and monitor budget performance to ensure alignment with city objectives. Minimum Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field 
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License

Position Overview
Under basic supervision, the Financial Analyst will support the City of Waco's financial operations by performing detailed financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. This role involves collaborating with various departments to ensure financial data accuracy and providing actionable insights to support decision-making processes. The Financial Analyst will also play a critical role in financial planning, risk management, and strategic initiatives to enhance the City's financial health.

Essential Functions
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of the annual budget, including revenue and expenditure forecasting.
  • Collaborate with department heads to gather and analyze budgetary data, monitoring budgetary performance, and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Analyze financial statements and reports to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal stakeholders and external entities.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Support the Finance Department in developing and implementing financial strategies to achieve the City’s goals.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis for proposed projects and initiatives and evaluate financial impact of policy changes and new programs.
  • Stay updated on financial best practices, regulations, and industry trends, and propose and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. 
  • May be required to respond after hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
