Description
The Office of Community & Belonging manages “Keuka Cupboard” the on-campus food pantry for Keuka College. The position requires sensitivity and confidentiality as the programming impacts a group of people who may be experiencing food insecurity. Prior experience volunteering in a food pantry/food bank is helpful, but not necessary. Appreciation, care, and respect for others are essential. People who are curious and creative are encouraged to apply. Approximately 10 to 12 hours per week.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a mailing list of people who utilize the Keuka Cupboard
- Provide occasional announcements, resources and other information, surveys and other ways to collect feedback so we can continue to improve our offerings
- Act as a liaison between Keuka College and local food banks and food insecurity organizations
- Invite representatives from local organizations to table at Keuka College to provide resources and sign students up for SNAP
- Promote the Keuka Cupboard through flyers, social media, Today@KC, and through word of mouth outreach
- Provide students with information about local transportation into Penn Yan and the monthly trips to Walmart provided by the Office of Community & Belonging
- Coordinate with RA’s to promote the Food Pantry
- Implement programs in collaboration with the Office of Community & Belonging, and/or other stakeholders to reduce any stigma which might arise from participating in Keuka Cupboard
- Manage donations and maintain an inventory
- Coordinate “BOGO” (Buy One, Get One, monthly donation events) as well as larger events held once a semester by the Office of Community & Belonging
- Recruit volunteers as needed
Essential Responsibilities:
- Student employees work to advance the mission of the Office of Community & Belonging of building bridges of understanding, through intercultural and interfaith engagement, and international student support.
- Planning and implementing programs, securing event locations, recruiting/utilizing volunteers, promoting activities, providing office support, and fulfilling other duties as assigned.
- Develop leadership, interpersonal, professional, communication, programming, and office skills.
- Always maintain a professional and courteous attitude towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner.
- Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies.
- Maintain a high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
- Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
- Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.

- Eligible for Work-Study
- Keuka College student in the traditional undergraduate on-campus program.
- Must be organized, creative, and self-motivated.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, and Social Media.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Always understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality.
- Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
