Job Summary:

Responsible for providing customer service and administrative support for Merchandisers involved in trading feed ingredients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages and maintains relationships with current buyers, suppliers, and third parties. 
  • Negotiates freight rates and deliveries with various vendors/customers. 
  • Inputs and maintains company specific data.
  • Maintain accurate freight rates, carrier documents and establish new carrier relationships as needed.
  • Assists in trouble shooting, customer relations and problem solving for all parties.
  • Serves as the first point of contact by answering telephone, texts, and emails and correctly distributing these to appropriate parties.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication with all parties using a variety of social media devices and techniques.
  • Works with merchandisers on changes with customer/commodity needs.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety requirements.
  • Provides a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workstation/environment at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

  • Education: High School or Equivalent
  • Experience: 2-5 years in Logistics Scheduling

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of supply chain, including common obstacles and effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of inventory management.   
  • Exceptional negotiation skills.
  • Excellent customer service and client relations skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to enter data and work accurately and efficiently with detailed transactional information. 
  • Proficiently working with various software programs. 
  • Ability to maintain good attendance habits.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell.
  • Required to stand and walk and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Able to climb up and down stairs.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Is occasionally exposed to fumes, or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very quiet.
