STREET MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT at City of Greer

The City of Greer is accepting applications for a Street Maintenance Superintendent in our Public Services Department.  

Responsibilities: Supervises, coordinates, assigns work, and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work assignments. Makes personal inspections of work performed in the field in order to ensure proper safety practices are being followed. Gives recommendations and guidance on repairs and maintenance issues as needed. Reviews the work of crews in widely scattered locations engaged in water, street, tree, sanitary and storm sewer maintenance, repair, installation, and construction. Prepares requisitions for necessary equipment, material, and supplies; assists in preparing equipment specifications. Participates in the recruiting and hiring process and ensures proper training of Public Services Workers is being performed. Assists in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the division and assigned section. Maintains time and materials record and prepares work reports and cost records. Recommends and enforces safety requirements.   Investigates complaints and suggests corrective actions; studies maintenance functions and recommends improvements; processes and answers claims. Interviews subordinates at various phases of work and gives them specific support; discusses work progress and ascertains the amount of materials and supplies needed. Prepares budget estimates and other requested reports. Completes and maintains a variety of records and reports. Keeps abreast of and maintains knowledge and contact with the latest technology and applies to section. Inspects contractors' work and verifies work and billing for payment. Performs related work as required.

Job Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalency. Five (5) years’ experience in roadway maintenance, truck and heavy equipment operation, and/or similar settings. South Carolina State Pesticide Applicator’s license. Road flagger training. OSHA Level 2/Hazardous Materials Operations Training.

Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday; on-call as necessary.

Salary: Minimum salary $64,740 a year; dependent on experience
