What You Will Be Doing

This clinical role sits within the suite of services provided by Peninsula Health’s (PH) Alcohol and Other Drug Program and is based at the Frankston Community Health site, but may be required to work across all sites to meet demand. The position involves providing evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions for people with legal issues (Forensic) experiencing AOD related issues who live within Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.

 

The AOD Counsellor is required to demonstrate clinically meaningful progress towards client-centred goals, including: reduced use of AOD, reductions in AOD-related harms, improved quality of life and improved mental wellbeing. Within PH AOD Program, AOD Counsellors work as part of a multidisciplinary team and are required to provide shared-care for some clients.

 

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:

 

  • Tertiary qualifications appropriate to the position such as social work, counselling or currently working towards qualification.
  • Completed the AOD Skill Set (AOD Core Competencies).
  • Demonstrated experience working with at-risk and vulnerable people with dual diagnosis
  • Demonstrated experience in working both independently and as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, with the ability to work effectively, supportively and flexibly.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in providing evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions for dual diagnosis.

*Please refer to salary circular Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employer) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2026 for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience. It is strongly recommended that this role is up to date with Covid-19 vaccination.
