Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician for a hybrid position rotating between Internal Medicine and Emergency/ICU services. This role offers the opportunity to expand technical skills, support advanced medical procedures, and deliver compassionate care to patients in both specialty and emergency settings.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care, including patient assessments, monitoring, diagnostic sample collection, IV catheter placement, medication/fluid administration, transfusion medicine, anesthesia monitoring, radiography, and emergency triage.
  • Assist with Internal Medicine procedures such as endoscopy, bone marrow biopsy, and tracheal wash.
  • Support communication between doctors and clients, ensuring medical information is conveyed accurately and compassionately.
  • Coordinate appointments, procedures, emergency cases, and inpatient consultations.
  • Advocate for patients and clients, addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Accurately obtain and document patient histories in the electronic medical record.
  • Mentor and support fellow team members while continuously seeking professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a veterinary technician in a small animal clinical setting required.
  • State certification to practice as a veterinary technician preferred.
  • Proficiency in medical math (drug calculations, constant rate infusions, conversions).
  • Strong technical knowledge in both Internal Medicine and Emergency/ICU.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Team-oriented, positive attitude with a commitment to patient advocacy.
  • Physical ability to lift and restrain animals up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to anticipate patient needs.
