Job Summary:
This position will conduct numerous tasks across the facility. This includes supporting pallet shop operations, square cutter operations, grinder operations, managing scrap material and all other tasks as required.
Must be willing to work Monday - Thursday, 645AM to 5PM
Job Duties:
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area
- Maintains a safe working environment by following all company safety policies and procedures and reports unsafe conditions and incidents, while maintaining quality standards
- Follows detailed instructions of what lengths to cut from master roll
- Identifies poor quality material and notifies the supervisor and/or Quality Control
- Loads cutter with master roll
- Sets cutter parameters for specified lengths
- Observes operation of machine to detect malfunctions such as jamming, wrinkling or tearing of material
- Stops machine to make required adjustments, when necessary
- Responsible for a visual inspection of product before it is used
- Unloads cut rolls and move rolls to boxing to be placed in inventory
- Performs identification of materials and or supplies to build pallets and includes safe operation of the screw gun, hand saw, radial table saw and emptying the dust collector
- Performs of visual inspection of finished pallets that have been built before being put into use
- Communicate line malfunctions in a timely manner to ensure production downtime is kept to a minimal
- Responsible for grinding scrap material to re-grind material for reuse, while ensuring it will meet customer standards as stated on the work order or ISO document.
- Responsible for the operation and the cleaning of grinders, start and stop features, blade changes and recognition of grinder lock out / tag out
- Performs or supports the staging or packaging process which would include but not limited to; scrap material boxes, removal of finished product from line(s) or the stacking table, operation of hoist, application of stretch wrap, endplates, keeping the line stocked with proper size pallets/skids/, labels and banding the proper pallet/skid as indicated on the work order and/or ISO documents.
- Strong knowledge and the ability to use the ISO program system to its’ potential. This includes the ability to locate and follow the ISO document. This includes double check and data collection procedures currently in place.
- Will manage internal and external sheet extrusion waste in both sheet and roll form.
- Strong knowledge and ability to transfer data such as but not limited to; daily production log book, quality control documents or forms used in the production process. This includes the ability to produce labels for all necessary products/materials.
- Knowledge and experience of the lift truck program, before shift equipment inspections and the completion of daily inspection forms.
- Must maintain a current certification in lift truck operation.
- Must comply with all current handbook policies and procedures.
- Must comply with all current safety policies and procedures. This includes personal protection equipment. This includes recognition of lock out / tag out when being performed in any area of the converting department.
- Will gain knowledge and experience to detect incorrect materials (input or output) and report them to the appropriate persons.
- Performs jobs or duties as instructed by Management or Supervision
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), one to three years of experience preferred
- Certified in lift truck operation
- Ability to work at a fast pace
- Ability to multi task and read production tickets
- Ability to perform math calculations including fractions
- Must be able to read tape measure, including micrometers
- Must be computer literate
- Must be dedicated to continuous improvement
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, stretch, or stand for extended periods of time
