About the Department
The purpose of the Pokémon Club Leader role is to create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children ages 5 and up to explore their interest in Pokémon. This position exists to foster creativity, social interaction, and critical thinking through themed activities, games, and discussions, while encouraging respect, inclusion, and enthusiasm in all club participants.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead engaging weekly Pokémon-themed activities, including games, discussions, and creative projects, to promote fun and learning.
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during club meetings, maintaining a positive and inclusive environment.
- Encourage and facilitate social interaction and teamwork among club members through cooperative games and group challenges.
- Introduce and explain Pokémon-related topics, such as card trading, character lore, and game mechanics, in an age-appropriate manner.
- Set up and clean up materials and supplies before and after each session to maintain a tidy and organized club space.
- Monitor behavior and enforce club rules with fairness and consistency to ensure respectful and enjoyable participation.
- Communicate with parents/guardians as needed to provide updates on club activities and participant progress.
- Adapt activities to suit the developmental needs, interests, and abilities of children ages 5 and up.
- Track attendance and maintain basic records to support organization and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with staff or volunteers to plan special events or themed days that enhance the club experience.
Position Duties
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Basic knowledge of Pokémon characters, games, and trading cards is preferred, or willingness to learn.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage positively with young children and their families.
- Ability to organize, plan, and lead group activities for children ages 11 to 17.
- Must have a positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for working with children in a recreational setting.
- Ability to manage small groups, encourage participation, and handle minor behavioral issues with calm and consistency.
- Physical ability to set up and move light materials, sit or stand for extended periods, and participate in active play if needed.
- Ability to maintain a safe and inclusive environment, following organization’s safety guidelines and procedures.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and flexible, including the ability to work occasional evenings or weekends if special events occur.
Minimum Qualifications
No specific education requirements; all experience levels welcome.
Other Qualifications
Work is primarily performed in a typical indoor recreational or classroom setting with occasional outdoor activities. The environment may be noisy at times due to active children and group interactions. May involve sitting on the floor, standing, or moving around the space for extended periods. The position may occasionally require lifting or carrying supplies (up to 45 lbs).
Physical Activities
- Lift and carry up to 20 lbs. of supplies such as games, books, or craft materials.
- Push or pull carts or storage bins with activity supplies as needed.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit on the floor during activities and while interacting with children.
- Reach, grasp, and handle small objects such as cards, toys, and craft tools.
- Stand and walk for extended periods during club sessions.
- Maintain balance and coordination while assisting in light physical activities or games.
- Must be able to see and hear clearly to monitor children and ensure safety.
- Ability to respond quickly to the physical needs or emergencies involving young children.
