Overview:

Brighton Resort is looking for fun, energetic, and enthusiastic people to join our Lift Operations Team! Lift Leads play a key role in creating a safe, welcoming, and memorable mountain experience for every guest. This position is perfect for those who enjoy working outdoors, being part of a close-knit team, and sharing the excitement of skiing and snowboarding with our guests. 

Lift Leads are experienced operators who take on added responsibilities to help keep their assigned lift running safely and smoothly. They oversee a lift during day-to-day operations and work with a small team of leads for that lift to monitor performance, support operators, and keep operations in line with resort and industry standards. Leads perform the same duties as operators while also helping with break scheduling, training, and daily paperwork. They communicate with other leads and lift operations leadership to address issues and coordinate adjustments. Above all, Lift Leads set a positive example, stay attentive to safety, and are a resource for their teammates.

The Lift Lead position is a Full time Seasonal position. Leads should be available for at least five shifts per week and must be available during peak holiday periods.

Responsibilities:

As a Lift Lead, you will contribute to Brighton’s LEADS values by:  

  • Prioritize Safety by: 
  • Overseeing lift operations during your shift to ensure all safety procedures are followed. 
  • Monitoring operators and guests, addressing hazards or unsafe behavior promptly. 
  • Coordinating with other leads, ski patrol, and lift maintenance to resolve safety concerns. 
  • Serve First by: 
  • Supporting your lift team in providing friendly, clear instructions to guests. 
  • Assisting operators with challenging guest situations or questions about conditions, events, and terrain. 
  • Acting as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism and patience in every guest interaction.

  • Remaining composed and positive in all weather and guest scenarios. 
  • Encouraging and reinforcing a positive, attentive, and team-focused mindset among operators. 
  • Deliver Excellence in Execution by: 
  • Performing all lift operator duties, including loading, unloading, and line management. 
  • Ensuring daily logs, inspections, and paperwork are completed accurately and on time. 
  • Coordinating operator breaks, tasks, and rotations.  
  • Think Long Term by: 
  • Contributing to the ongoing improvement of lift operations, including maze setup, ramp maintenance, and signage adjustments. 
  • Identifying recurring operational or training issues and communicating solutions to leadership. 
  • Helping maintain consistent standards across all shifts for safety and guest experience. 
  • Develop Great People by: 
  • Acting as a resource and mentor for lift operators, providing guidance, support, and feedback. 
  • Helping lead, coach, and train operators on safe and efficient lift practices. 
  • Communicating effectively with other leads and management to ensure team success and development. 
Qualifications:

This position may be for you if you: 

  • Are 18 years of age or older. 
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Can lift 35 lbs and push/pull 50 lbs unassisted. 
  • Are comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions for long periods. 
  • Can ski or snowboard safely at an intermediate or higher level. 
  • Have strong communication skills and a focus on safety and guest service. 
  • Can stay attentive and focused on surroundings for extended periods without distraction. 
  • Are committed to following safety procedures and addressing hazards immediately. 
  • Want to work with teammates from diverse backgrounds. 
  • Are available to work at least five shifts per week, including peak holiday periods, with day and night shifts as scheduled. 
  • Have a passion for the outdoors. 
  • Can reliably get to and from the resort in various weather conditions. 
  • Have experience in safety-critical and guest service roles. 
  • Have previous leadership or supervisory experience, even in a small team setting. 
  • Can support, coach, and mentor team members while leading by example. 
  • Can complete required documentation, logs, and communication tasks accurately and on time 

 

Preferred: 

  • Have experience leading teams in outdoor, high-traffic, or safety-critical environments. 
  • Have experience training or mentoring team members. 
  • Are familiar with lift operations procedures and emergency protocols.
