Job Description

DEFINITION 

Under general supervision, serves as a member of the Individual Education Program Planning Team and participates in decisions regarding placement of students with exceptional needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Appraises academic, behavioral, and perceptional functioning of an individual student
  • Implements and monitors students’ Individual Education Plans
  • Provides a basic core curriculum program for special education students consistent with state and federal education code requirements
  • Recommends to support staff, classroom teacher(s), parents and district personnel appropriate diagnostic/instructional services for individuals with exceptional needs
  • Provides consultative, resource, and supervisory services in program and curriculum planning, research, and program evaluation for special projects involving students with exceptional needs within the school and at the district level
  • Plans with teachers and other staff members implementation of instructional strategies to meet the needs of individuals with exceptional needs
  • Coordinates and supervises work experience and on-campus job-training programs involving special education students
  • Works cooperatively with classroom teachers who have special education students in general education classes, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of these students to the entire staff, and assisting the student’s core curriculum instructional needs
  • Assists in referral of individuals with exceptional needs to available community agencies when their needs cannot be met by the services provided by the district
  • Consults with parents (or guardians) and members of related disciplines, including outside agencies, regarding the needs of an individual with exceptional needs
  • Confers frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding the educational, social, and personal concerns of students
  • Assists other professional staff members in resolving the unique psychological and/or disciplinary concerns of students
  • Keeps attendance records, computerized IEP records and all other records pertinent to the special education program for the state reports and program accountability
  • Participates in professional growth activities
  • Participates in district-wide meetings for maintenance of standards and evaluation of special education services
  • Performs other duties as assigned

CREDENTIAL:

  • Valid California Credential or license authorizing service in grade levels and areas assigned
  • Valid English Learner Certification
  • Verification of NCLB Highly Qualified compliance

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree, including all courses to meet credential requirements

Requirements / Qualifications

Must possess or qualify for a California Education Specialist Mild/Moderate Credential with an Autism authorization, Mild/Moderate Support Needs Credential OR an Education Specialist Moderate/Severe Credential. Emergency/Interns accepted. Please include a resume and three letters of recommendation (supervisors preferred).

This position is for the 2025-26 school year. We operate on a modified traditional calendar, with the first reporting day for teachers will be Monday, August 1, 2025. First day for students will be The current opening is at Krystal School of Science, Math & Technology INCENTIVES for CREDENTIALED APPLICANTS: - $5,000 signing bonus - Placement on our salary schedule commensurate with your current salary OR credit for years of full-time experience, whichever is higher - Moving expense stipend not to exceed $2,500 for candidates who must relocate to accept a position. (50 miles or more; Proof of relocation may be required) INCENTIVES FOR APPLICANTS NOT FULLY CREDENTIALED, but are Intern Eligible: - $2,500 signing bonus - Moving expense stipend not to exceed $2,500 for candidates who must relocate to accept a position.
