Position Title: Assistant Football Coach – Junior High
Reports To: Athletic Director (in conjunction with the Junior High Principal)
Supervises: Student-athletes and student assistants; works collaboratively with other coaches under the direction of the Head Football Coach.
Qualifications
- Ability to organize, supervise, and contribute to a comprehensive football program.
- Previous successful coaching experience in football preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the technical aspects of football, with a commitment to ongoing learning of new strategies, theories, and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a positive role model for student-athletes through actions, instructions, and conduct.
Job Goal
To assist in instructing and mentoring student-athletes in fundamental football skills, strategies, and physical conditioning, fostering both individual and team success. This role also emphasizes the development of personal character, self-discipline, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities
Program Support
- Assist the Head Coach in implementing the philosophy, skills, and techniques of the football program.
- Support the planning and execution of practices, conditioning sessions, and games.
- Reinforce and uphold athletic department and school board policies, as well as state and league regulations.
Student-Athlete Development
- Serve as a mentor to promote trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
- Monitor academic performance and conduct of student-athletes.
- Ensure student safety during practices, games, and travel.
- Communicate training rules and team expectations to all athletes.
- Assist in managing player discipline and conduct, involving parents when necessary.
Administrative & Logistical Support
- Assist in scheduling, transportation, and facility preparation for practices and games.
- Help maintain and safeguard equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
- Support record-keeping for eligibility, parental consent, and medical requirements.
- Report injuries promptly and follow established protocols.
Public Relations
- Promote the football program within the school and community.
- Maintain positive relationships with parents, school staff, volunteers, officials, and media.
- Support communication of schedules, results, and events to appropriate stakeholders.
Other Duties
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, or Principal to support the success and integrity of the football program.
