Thomas Rest Haven is a city owned facility celebrating over 50 years of serving the residents of the Coon Rapids, IA area.  This facility is a 46 bed skilled/nursing care facility that offers short or long term care, respite care, and has a Veteran's care contract. The facility also has a 12 unit assisted living attached, provides inpatient and outpatient therapy services, and has a physician's office on campus.  TRH offers an excellent benefit package including life/health insurance, IPERS, and many more.

Job Description:

The housekeeper position has a responsibility for duties related to keeping the facility and the surrounding outside areas neat and clean at all times and to maintain a safe, clean environment for residents and staff members.  All of the following duties are essential unless otherwise noted: 

  1. Clean resident rooms, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and tidying of the area
  2. Change resident bed linens and washes bed on a routine basis.
  3. Clean shower room, public restrooms, employee break room, lounges, offices, smoke room, physical therapy room and all other common areas of the facility on a routine basis except for the dietary kitchen and laundry areas. 
  4. Wash windows, glass doors, light fixtures, walls, pipes, heat registers, and waste containers as assigned. 
  5. Clean carpet as assigned.   
  6. Clean closets and storage areas as assigned. 

The Laundry Worker position has overall responsibility for work in the laundry department of the facility.  All of the following duties are essential unless otherwise noted:

  1. Sorting and cleaning all laundry in accordance with standard procedures.
  2. Inspecting and repairing damaged linens, towels, or other items which are routinely laundered.
  3. Pre-treat fabrics as necessary.
  4. Understand and operate laundry equipment for cleaning of the facility linens.
  5. Transfer items from the washing facility to the drying facility.  
  6. Removing items from the dryer.
  7. Hanging finished garments on hangers where appropriate, and /or folding or stacking garments. 
  8. Stock linen carts for hallways and shower rooms.
  9. Deliver resident clothing and other laundered items to resident rooms.
  10. Clean closets and storage areas as assigned. 
  11. Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications:

Must possess the ability to read, write, speak and follow written and oral instructions in English.  High school education or GED is preferred, but not required.  Must be at least 16 years old.
