This includes the recording, transfer, and disposal of fixed assets, recording and tracking of construction in process, monthly reconciliations of the fixed asset subledger and construction in process schedule to the general ledger, as well as the recording and tracking of all company leases.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Be a key player in the Company’s 5-day close
Record capital asset expenditures (both newly acquired and constructed), depreciation, disposals and transfers
Maintain the company’s lease database and ensure accuracy of lease terms, payments, and related accounting data
Use judgement in making CAPEX vs. OPEX determination in accordance with US GAAP
Review lease agreements and amendments to determine proper accounting treatment
Prepare fixed assets and construction in process related journal entries and monthly lease accounting entries in accordance with US GAAP
Perform all related monthly reconciliations, investigating any variances between the fixed asset subledger and the construction in process schedule to the general ledger
Monitor capital projects on an on-going basis and work with business partners on timely and accurate reporting of construction in process
Partner with Real Estate team to ensure timely capture of new leases, renewals, modifications, and terminations
Research, investigate, and report on account variances for monthly fluctuation analysis
Prepare corporate accounting schedules required to support quarterly and annual filings and respond in a timely manner to auditor inquiries for leases and fixed assets
Work cross-functionally with company departments
Ability to perform ad hoc fixed asset/CIP analysis as requested by management
Identify opportunities for improvement – including the automation of certain tasks and general ledger impacting activities
Ensure compliance with accounting and reporting deadlines
Perform other duties and projects assigned
Be a team player with a willingness to learn, take on additional tasks, and look for ways to gain efficiencies
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
3-5 years of demonstrated general ledger accounting experience (public accounting or relevant corporate accounting experience preferred).
Experience or exposure to lease accounting and/or fixed assets preferred.
CPA/CPA candidate or Master’s Degree desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills and consistent follow through on assigned tasks.
Experience with financial accounting systems (Sage Intacct & Blackline a plus).
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office. Experience with lease accounting software (LeaseQuery, CoStar, Nakisa) is a plus.
Proactive self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced environment and an ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet pressing deadlines.
Team player with a strong work ethic.
Highly detail oriented and organized in work, also while being able to see the big picture.
Readiness to embrace and drive process improvements/efficiencies.
Excellent conceptual, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
