About the Department
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patrols assigned districts, watching for and investigating unusual activity or circumstances
- Checks buildings for unsecured windows, doors, malfunctioning lights, fire hazards, dangerous conditions, and may occasionally guide new employees on patrol duty
- Responds to radio calls or any crime violations in progress and reports unusual incidents
- Checks vehicle registration, individuals IDs and outstanding warrants
- Completes reports such as incident reports, activity logs, and field interview cards
- Assists tourist, motorists, faculty, staff and students
- Gives directions to persons seeking location of campus buildings or departments
- Assists with unlocking vehicles, calling auto services, starting stalled cars
- Directs and clears traffic in situations such as an accident
