About the Department
Adaptive & Inclusion Program Director
Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) is hiring a dedicated and organized Program Director to lead our Adaptive & Inclusion services. This role is responsible for developing and coordinating inclusive programming across the district, directing Camp Rivendale, and supporting adaptive recreation opportunities for individuals of all ages and abilities. The position also provides lead direction to part-time staff and volunteers.
Role Overview
The ideal candidate is passionate about recreation and inclusion, with strong organizational and leadership skills. This role develops and manages adaptive programs, supports inclusion services across facilities and events, and builds community partnerships. A team-oriented mindset, communication skills, and commitment to safety are essential.
Scheduling
This is a year-round position with a flexible schedule averaging less than 29 hours per week. Availability is required on evenings and weekends as needed to support programs, events, and seasonal Camp Rivendale operations. Part-time employees may work fewer than 1,560 hours per year.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation, special education, or a related field, and at least two years of adaptive and/or inclusive recreation experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Valid Oregon driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Preferred: CTRS certification or special education background
- Preferred: Bilingual skills

Classification Status
THPRD is hiring for a role with hours that may vary based on program needs:
- Part-Time Variable (PT): Fewer than 20 hours per week and no more than 1,560 hours annually
- Part-Time Benefits (PTB) Eligible: 20–29 hours per week year-round with benefits eligibility
