About the Department
Alabama State University, Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications for a General Manager -Football position. The General Manager of Football is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational, administrative, and personnel functions of the football program. This position must adhere to all safety standards, ensure the well-being of student-athletes and support their academic success and will have direct involvement with all administrative and organizational aspects of the assigned position under the supervision of the head football coach.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the head coach in administering a highly competitive Division I Football Program.
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate administrative staff, support personnel, and operational processes to ensure smooth functioning of all program activities.
- Handles many aspects of the team, including the recruitment and advisement of players.
- Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to their sport. Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes.
- Commits to and is responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the University, the SWAG and the NCAA with the utmost integrity.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the program and external stakeholders, including league officials, sponsors, vendors, and community partners.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree is required in Sports Management, Business Administration, or related field, minimum three to seven years of experience in football operations, coaching or analytics, with at least two years in leadership or management capacity, effective written/oral communication, ability to work effectively with all collegiate personnel, students, alumni and community. exercise sound judgement and maturity, and must be knowledgeable of NCAA rules and regulations.
