In this exciting Production Supervisor role you will organizes start-up and shift activities from prep through fill line to ensure execution on daily production goals. You will resolves production line issues as they arise and provide guidance to Team and Line Leads. You will be responsible for overall operating efficiency and use your "Safety First' mindset to help achieve daily production goals.
Uses a “Safety First” mindset to supervisor daily production activity
- Reinforces safety protocol and procedures during daily shift huddles
- Addresses safety issues immediately, ensuring those involved understand and embrace the appropriate behaviors
- Follows incident protocol for addressing injuries and reporting needs
- Proactively provides ideas for safety program enhancement and communication
Supervises the assigned shift on production to ensure shift production goals are achieved
- Executes on assigned quarterly and annual goals
- Spends most of the time on the production floor, partnering with Team and Line Leads to ensure production goals are achieved and may try to make up shortfalls from previous shifts
- Interprets daily production schedules and assigns hourly team to line positions
- Supervises the intra-shift position rotation to align with ergonomic policies
- Uses critical thinking skills to interpret production problems and to provide solutions; escalates situations to manager as required
- Reviews the previous shifts’ outcomes and issues to best prepare for production runs
- Reviews RedZone to understand daily run; this includes product performance, downtime percentage, changeovers and other KPIs as required
Partners with Food Safety & Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse and Planning to resolve
production issues
- Develops familiarity with policies and procedures across all operational functions to ensure alignment
- Determines root cause for repeat issues and works with appropriate resources to resolve challenges
- Ensures thorough documentation and communication of procedural changes across the operational team
Oversees hourly workforce through team leads to ensure effective training, daily
communications, conflict resolution, personal safety, and individual/team performance
- Supervises team and line leads to ensure daily operational goals are met and that workplace procedures are followed ·
- Shares a trusting and productive relationship with HR to recruit, manage and develop plant staff
- Keeps employees informed on factors relating to their work assignment, work progress, and opportunity for advancement. ·Partners with HR and external temporary agency/vendors to manage and right-size temporary employee numbers to achieve targeted forecast
- Addresses employee relations’ issues as needed, maintaining a contemporaneous journal of instances that occur to ensure proper documentation; escalates concerns to managers and the HR team ·
- Tracks time in Paylocity, approving schedules, making schedule changes and managing time off; partners with HR to resolve discrepancies 5- Commits to and executes on plant and food safety procedures and processes
- Monitors product standards and executes on quality control program and operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality, partnering with FSQ team
- Implements GMPs, Food Quality Standards, and ensures training and other activities to meet standards and drive quality of production
- Participates as an active member in the safety, quality and food safety committees.
- Performs accident reviews and investigations as well as any other specific safety assignments. ·
- Enforces all company policies, procedures and regulations 6- Seeks ways to improve production outcomes by applying CI approaches ·
- Listens to all employee suggestions and provides feedback to ensure the team understands critical aspects of the manufacturing process ·
- Participates in project teams that improve productivity, control costs, reduce waste, maintain quality and food safety standards · Works to develop fluency in standard CI improvement methodologies and terms and may initiative 5S, Wishbone, root cause investigation, etc., or other projects to drive efficiency ·
- Enforce current 5S program 7- Reviews the daily production schedules ensuring that total production meets customer order demand ·
- Frequently reviews E- reports and Ross to ensure accuracy and the all jobs are up to date and the stage counts are closed correctly. · Print the next day required jobs, spec sheets, and other paperwork, ensuring meets the requirements based on the production schedule.
Background Requirements
High school degree or GED is required. A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in food production
is required. Should have demonstrated supervisory skill sets, including the ability to provide clear
direction, resolve conflict and teach/coach people to improve. Must have good communication skills.
Must be familiar with GMPs and Food Safety concepts. Must have the willingness to learn and make
personal investment in knowledge acquisition, learning and growth. Must have good process
management skills. Familiarity with OSHA, food safety / GMP standards, including FDA, HACCP & 3rd
party SQF audits is required. Ability to work effectively under pressure with high energy and proactive
style. Must be thoroughly familiar with FDA and USDA standard requirements. Bilingual in
English/Spanish is required. Ability to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.
- Work conditions vary, working time will vary based upon work / project needs, and flexibility iscritical. Temperatures range from 5 to 90 F degrees in processing departments.
- Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 25 lbs. to stand for long periods of time
