Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, mechanical equipment, audio/visual and electrical equipment such as lubrication, filter replacement, battery replacement, and minor adjustments.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with some experience working with HVAC equipment.
Knowledge of standard safety practices, tools, and terminology of the skilled trades of HVAC and electrical.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings.
Ability to use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and some test equipment.
Ability to meet the public effectively.
Ability to effectively work in a crew and maintain good working relations with the crew and others.
Dependability with good judgment.
Ability to work outside in a variety of temperatures and climate conditions.
Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks, including lifting, stooping, bending, working in tiring and uncomfortable positions, and from ladders, scaffolds, etc.
Must have current Virginia driver’s license.
Performance Responsibilities:
Perform regular inspections of HVAC equipment, machinery, and electrical fixtures in the school system.
Perform minor repairs on audio/visual equipment.
Lubricate all motors, bearings, pumps, and air compressors as necessary or at intervals determined by supervisor.
Inspect all belt driven equipment for wear and condition and replace and/or adjust as needed.
Report any obvious problems and strange noises to supervisor.
Replace air filters as part of a regular schedule.
Maintain records of work accomplished.
Perform other related duties as assigned by Manager of Building Maintenance.

Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
