We are looking for Building Substitutes at Meadowside Elementary School level for the 2025-2026 school year.
This is a 10 Month position (181-day work year) following the 2025-2026 school calendar year.
This position is a ONE year assignment, for 2025-2026 only.
Current CT Elementary certification is preferred.
Salary is $145/day.

POSITION TITLE: Building Substitute
UNION: None
PAY GRADE: $145/day, 181-day work year
OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
The Building Substitute shall provide instructional coverage when teachers are not in attendance. The Building Substitute will play a vital role in providing a consistent, safe environment conducive to learning by following the plans and procedures put in place by the classroom teachers.
ESSENTIAL TASKS OF THE POSITION: (Illustrative, not inclusive)
Assume all duties and responsibilities of the regular classroom teacher
Deliver lesson plans as instructed by the regular classroom teacher and/or school administrators
Maintain a safe and orderly environment
Ensure the safety and well being of all students within the assigned classroom and appropriately respond to all emergency situations
Ensure the protection of equipment, materials, and facilities as appropriate.
Communicate in a positive way with all students, staff, and others
Manage student behavior which supports a positive learning environment
Maintain established routines of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned
Maintain a professional appearance as an example to students
Communicate effectively with parents when needed
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated
Maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with Federal Law (FERPA)
Provide feedback for the regular classroom teacher
Collaborate and communicate effectively with all building staff in order to meet the current needs of students and maintain a positive work environment for all.
Maintain and enforce District policies, regulations, and procedures
Prepare/complete appropriate reports/paperwork
Attendance in accordance with established days/hours of work
Promote and support the professional learning of self and others. Set high work standards and ethics for self
Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position

QUALIFICATIONS:
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree required
Ability to work regular school hours, Monday through Friday
Past experience working with children in a teacher/coach/counselor--student capacity
Proficient computer skills, including, but not limited to Google Suite (Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Drive, etc.); and other software programs
Strong organizational skills
Efficient time management
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
CT teaching licensure preferred
REPORTS TO: School Principal
WORK YEAR: 10 Months, following school calendar year
