About the Department
The City is accepting applications for one (1) regular, full-time Landscape Supervisor in the Transportation and Mobility Department. This opportunity is non-represented and FLSA exempt (overtime ineligible). This role reports to the Transportation and Mobility Division Manager and supervises a team of landscape maintenance and cemetery staff. - Oversee Landscape Maintenance: Direct and manage the daily activities related to maintaining parks, public rights-of-way, and other city landscapes to ensure they are well-kept and visually appealing.
- Manage Irrigation and Water Conservation: Evaluate and improve irrigation systems for efficiency, promoting water conservation throughout the city's landscaped areas.
- Supervise and Support Staff: Lead a diverse team, provide guidance, set goals, and ensure smooth operations in landscape maintenance tasks.
- Inspect and Identify Needs: Regularly inspect landscaped areas, cemeteries, and public sites to identify repair needs, recommend solutions, and ensure progress is on track.
- Manage Cemetery Operations: Organize and supervise maintenance and operational activities at the Pilot Butte Cemetery, ensuring it is well-maintained and respectful.
- Respond to Public Inquiries: Address and resolve citizen complaints or inquiries regarding landscaping and tree maintenance to ensure public satisfaction.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all landscaping activities adhere to safety standards and regulations, enforce protocols to protect staff and public safety.
- Collaborate with City Programs: Work with other city departments like Water Services and Engineering to integrate landscaping efforts with broader city projects and infrastructure plans.
- Budget and Resource Management: Prepare cost estimates for projects, manage budgets, and oversee the purchase and inventory of necessary equipment and materials.
- Emergency Response Participation: Be prepared to respond to emergency situations or state emergencies to restore essential public services and infrastructure.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: A high school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined in the job description.
Experience: 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar position or performing similar tasks related to landscape maintenance and operations.
2 to 3 years of supervisory experience, including knowledge of various landscape equipment such as mowers, trimmers, sprayers, snowplows, and heavy machinery.
Licensing: A current and valid driver's license as per City policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Desired (but not required) Attributes:Prior supervisory experience in the public sector preferred.
Pesticide Applicator License, Certified Arborist, and/or other landscaping related certifications preferred.
