About the Department

The purpose of this class is to work with veterans and military-connected students to enrich the Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success. To serve as a single point of contact to coordinate comprehensive support services for veteran students.  This is a grant funded position.

Position Duties

Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.  Three (3) years of experiencein a veteran support or management role at an educational institution is required (Prior experience serving in the military is preferred). An understanding of VA benefits and services and how they are administered and managed to ensure institutional compliance; working knowledge of the requirements set forth in the Harry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2017 (Forever G.I.Bill) is required.Preferred experience in navigating and communicating with veterans’ administration offices, state, or federal. 

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field.  Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.

Minimum Qualifications

1.  Coordinate a functional process within the department.

2. Monitor compliance with policies and procedures.

3. Maintain department records and files as required.

4. Manage program expenses efficiently and economically.

5. Represent the College and/or department at events, as required.

6. Create, maintain, and ensure accuracy of student records in the

Enrollment Manager system.

7. Serve as a School Certifying Official (SCO) for processing certifications to government agencies for our students' growing population.

Other Qualifications

  1. Act as the liaison and coordinate veteran student support initiatives.
  2. Collaborate with representatives from admissions, registration, financial aid, veterans benefits, academic advising, career advising, and disability services.
  3. Monitor the rates of veteran student enrollment, persistence, and completion.
  4. Perform outreach and recruitment.
  5. Supervise part-time staff and conduct evaluations.
  6. Facilitate and attend meetings, as required.
  7. Work with and support PRE department with data collection efforts and outcomes.
  8. Collaborate with College Communications to produce both marketing materials.
  9. Provide assistance in obtaining student financial aid
  10. Support veteran student organizations and veteran student support groups on campus.
