The Associate Director of the Academic Advising, Retention, and Completion (AARC) Office will provide strategic leadership and operational support in advancing initiatives that enhance Towson University’s ability to advise, retain, and graduate students. This position plays a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, data-informed advising services and retention programs. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient with technology and student success platforms, leveraging data and reporting tools to assess impact, identify trends, and support continuous improvement. The Associate Director will support a range of university-wide programs including the First-Year Experience (FYE), Freshman Registration, Summer and Transfer Orientation, Academic Intervention, Freshman Transition Program (FTP), Advisor Training, and the Student Academic Advisor Program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree 
  • 5 years of experience as an academic advisor in higher education
  • Experience with leadership, professional staff supervision, and performance evaluation
  • Experience working with a diverse college student population
  • Knowledge of academic advising practices and student development theory
  • Knowledge and experience with academic support programs for students in academic jeopardy
  • Skills in program development and management
  • Strong skills and experience managing technology, student success management systems, CRM platforms
  • Ability to work well and communicate effectively with a wide range of people at different levels of the University organization
  • Evidence of commitment to academic advising as a professional field and career

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience working with PeopleSoft, EAB Navigate, and HighPoint
