About the Department
Description: The Dougherty County Tax & Tag Department is hiring for an Auditor. The purpose of this position is to audit business records in accordance with the guidelines of the Georgia Revenue Code. Perform audits of personal property tax returns. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Position Duties
Essential Tasks: • Analyzes and performs audits of personal property tax returns and supporting documentation to calculate the appraised and assessed value of tangible assets. • Process personal property returns. • Responds to questions about the valuation of personal property. • Writes letters and reports of audit findings; recommends appropriate actions. • Researches businesses that did not file a personal property return or pay taxes to ensure that taxes due are collected. • Conduct field checks and canvas mobile home parks and businesses. • Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education And Experience • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related major. • One (1) year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Physical Demands: Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
