As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and social development of our students. You will work closely with the students, teachers, and other support staff to ensure the student's individual needs are met, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. Your patience, understanding, and ability to implement specialized strategies and interventions will be essential in helping the student achieve their full potential.
Required Documents
*Provide Individualized Support: Offer one-on-one assistance or academic support to the student/s throughout the school day, including academic, social, and behavioral support.
*Implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP): Collaborate with the student’s teachers and therapists to understand and implement the goals and strategies outlined in the IEP, ensuring
consistency across all environments.
*Promote Social Interaction: Facilitate opportunities for the student/s to engage with their peers, encouraging appropriate social interaction and fostering social skills development.
*Assist with Academic Tasks: Support the student/s in completing assigned tasks and assignments, adapting instructional materials and strategies to meet their unique learning style and abilities.
*Address Behavioral Challenges: Implement behavioral management techniques and strategies recommended by the school team, maintaining a calm and structured environment to promote
positive behavior.
*Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open and regular communication with the student's teachers, therapists, and parents/guardians, sharing updates on progress, challenges, and
strategies implemented.
*Safety and Well-being: Ensure the safety and well-being of the student/s at all times, remaining vigilant and proactive in identifying potential hazards or situations that may require immediate
attention.
*Data Collection: Collect and maintain accurate records of the student's progress, behavior, and achievements, assisting in the development of progress reports and individualized interventions.
*Professional Development: Stay informed about current best practices and strategies for supporting individuals with autism, participating in relevant training and professional development
opportunities.
Requirements / Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in special education, psychology, or a related field is a plus.
