- Triage of critical patients
- Obtaining patient vitals
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding patient history, treatment estimates, admitting, and discharging of patients.
- Restrain animals for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Prepare prescriptions as ordered by the doctor
- Prepare and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the doctor.
- Perform venipuncture.
- Place IV catheters
- Perform laboratory procedures and prepare specimens sent to outside laboratories.
- Set up instruments and equipment needed for surgical and anesthetic procedures.
- Knowledge of names and locations of all instruments and equipment used in surgery.
- Prepare patient for surgery: Place IV catheter, induce anesthesia, intubate, clip, clean, and scrub.
- Monitor anesthesia and recover patients post-operatively
- Perform radiography.
- Perform suture and staple removal
- Clean, wrap and sterilize surgical packs, gowns, and drapes.
- Provide basic care: feeding, bathing, nail trims, and expression of anal sacs as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in work areas.
- Perform basic kennel duties as required.
- Basic inventory and stocking duties as required.
- Perform CPR and administer emergency drugs under DVM guidance
- Ensure that all charges are entered for procedures and treatments performed
- Ensure all controlled drugs are entered correctly into the log books and charged correctly
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with Doctors and clients regarding their patient's needs.
- Knowledge of drug calculations.
- Computer entry skills (invoicing, prescriptions, MREs).
- Consistent, on-time arrival and attendance at work each day you are scheduled.
- Always be in position and prepared to work at the start of each shift.

- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Veterinary Technician Assistant experience is required.
- Licensure is preferred but not required.
- Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can effectively deal with them even when they are stressed, ill, or in pain.
- Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds, and work on feet most of the day.
- Excellent customer service, computer, and phone etiquette skills are required.
- * Overnight * shift (6:30 pm - 7:00 am).
- Overtime and Saturdays may be required.
