Job Title: Compliance Specialist
Reports to: Managing Director of Grants and Compliance

Work Year: 226 days
Base Salary: $37,875 Actual salary will be calculated based on experience.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To provide support to the Business Services Department by effectively creating and maintaining data files. Keep financial staff informed of updates and provide information and resources to assist in department internal controls.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED required
Some college preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of basic accounting procedures
Knowledge of general financial application functions and accounting basics preferred
Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines
Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets and perform analysis
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Ability to implement policies and procedures
Proficient typing, data entry, file management, and record keeping skills
Experience:
Data entry in a business office setting preferred
Experience in a Texas public school or local government environment with a working knowledge of business procedures preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Assist in compliance initiatives for the Business Office as appropriate.
Provide support and review processes for financial services staff on all data related matters to ensure proper internal controls.
Create and maintain vendor files including compliance with IRS regulations and Frisco ISD business procedures.
Communicate with district staff regarding non-compliance issues and corrective actions necessary to process vendor paperwork.
Contact and provide assistance to vendors on updating and completion of vendor packets in order to maintain compliance.
Research and record suspension and debarment documents for district vendors to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
Prepare and submit vendor background checks to ensure adequate review of criminal history for district vendors, pursuant to Texas state law.
Record and review vendor felony conviction forms of potential vendors pursuant to Texas state law.
Maintain federal 1099 forms for tax documentation to comply with IRS regulations.
Verify and record vendor ACH banking information to verify and document data to minimize potential fraudulent requests.
Internal audit of district vendors to ensure accuracy of data and minimize exposure to fraud.
Research potential vendors for employee vs contractor employment conflict.
Support district staff with vendor inquiries to maintain the timeliness of the purchasing process.
Continuous monitoring of district vendor files to ensure accuracy of vendor information.
Reconcile district vendor file with electronically stored supporting documents on file to ensure compliance with district procedures.
Update the Managing Director of Grants and Compliance of any areas of concern.
Manage time and workload in an efficient manner.
Complete other duties as assigned.
