We are looking for a Sr. Project Engineer to join our Agricultural Solutions team based in Manati, PR.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will lead the planning, design, execution, and commissioning of large-scale or technically complex capital projects. The Senior Project Engineer ensures that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with BASF’s engineering standards and sustainability goals. You will ensure that projects are developed under the concept of RAGAGEP, which stands for Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices, a critical concept under Process Safety Management (PSM). Additionally, you will provide technical support to the maintenance and operations departments (utilities/production) in troubleshooting machinery and equipment to resolve operational problems arising from executed projects.

- Developing the project scope, schedule, and budget cost, and preparing the Appropriation Package following the Capital Investment Guidelines of BASF Corp.
- Facilitating the engineering, procurement, and construction of assigned projects.
- Executing the project in a manner consistent with BASF requirements and standards.
- Providing appropriate project management liaison between contractors, project team, and plant personnel.
- Ensuring contacts with governmental authorities/agencies are carried out on all matters pertaining to the project.
- Ensuring that projects are supported by the appropriate personnel assigned by the Engineering/Construction Contractors or Engineering groups.
- Directing contractor performance of work at the job site regarding safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
- Evaluating contractor work for compliance with the contract and taking corrective action to avoid deficiencies.
- Providing troubleshooting support to the Maintenance Department and Production areas to resolve machinery and equipment malfunctions.
- Being responsible for the implementation and compliance of Safety & Ecology, Quality, Security, and other relevant regulations, including process safety and industrial hygiene.
- Ensuring compliance with BASF program standards in environmental safety, process safety, quality, continuous improvement, and industrial hygiene, including meeting plant KPIs.
If you...
- Have a BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or other relevant field of study.
- Possess a PMP (Project Management Professional) certification, which is desirable.
- Hold a PE license, which is also desirable.
- Bring at least 10 years of experience in engineering or technical project roles, including managing capital projects, process improvements, or infrastructure upgrades in the manufacturing industry.
- Have proficiency in HVAC Systems and Industrial Plant Equipment, such as reactors, agitators, formulators, compressors, pumps, mills, feeders, piping and welding specifications, ventilation systems, boilers, cooling towers, process and treated water, and/or waste treatment systems.
- Possess knowledge of PLCs or DCS Control Systems, which is desirable.
- Bring experience in the selection, specification, and installation of Packaging Equipment.
- Have experience in Sustainability projects is a plus, including leading or contributing to energy efficiency initiatives, carbon footprint reduction, or waste minimization projects.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills in guiding teams and stakeholders.
- Exhibit excellent communication and reporting skills.
