Summary: Assists procedural team during (under the direct supervision of the performing physician and performing only those duties assigned by the performing physician) endoscopic procedures by performing the following duties.
Position is Full-time - 40 hours per week - benefits eligible
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Places equipment and supplies in the endoscopic procedure room and arranges instruments, according to instructions.
- Assists team members to position patients.
- Performs and/or participates in safety checks including “Time Out” prior to the beginning of procedures in collaboration with ALL team members (other technicians, anesthesia and nursing staff and performing physician).
- Maintains supply of endoscopic supplies necessary for procedures and patient care during the procedures.
- Hands instruments and supplies to the physician and performs other tasks as directed by the physician during endoscopic procedures.
- Documents interventions and patient care activities in collaboration with other team members in the electronic health record and any other patient record, as appropriate, correctly and accurately.
- Cleans, reprocesses and maintains endoscopes and all equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendations, industry standards and strictly adheres to all infection control standards.
- Maintains reprocessing machines and all reprocessing related equipment in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, industry standards and strictly adheres to all infection control standards.
- Cleans and maintains the endoscopic procedure rooms according to industry and infection control standards.
- Assists in the acquisition of tissue specimens as directed by and under the direct supervision of the performing physician.
- Responsible for appropriate labeling, care, and security of all specimens obtained from the time of acquisition until secured for laboratory group pickup.
- Responsible for appropriate tracking documentation of all specimens including verification of the accuracy of any and all reports generated via the electronic health record system.
- Follow and comply with all safety policies.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility.

Education/ and or Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One to three years related experience and/or training
- Maintains knowledge, skills and abilities through ongoing education.
- Completes all mandatory reviews/educational required and assigned.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Is actively committed to meeting / exceeding employee expectations / satisfaction in the performance of job functions.
- Retains all accreditations, licensures and designations in good standing.
- Maintains compliance with all laws and applicable regulatory requirements. Acts promptly to comply with required changes.
