About the Department
The Shipping, Receiving, and Surplus Clerk is responsible for managing all incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accurate recordkeeping, timely deliveries, and maintaining inventory integrity. This position supports warehouse operations and works closely with purchasing, logistics, and internal departments.
We are hiring a morning and afternoon shift.
Position Duties
Shipping and Receiving Duties:
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments, verifying quantities and condition of goods.
- Match packing slips and purchase orders, and accurately document receipts in the system.
- Prepare items for shipment, including packaging, labeling, and generating shipping documentation.
- Coordinate with carriers for pickups and deliveries, and track outgoing shipments.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by conducting regular cycle counts and updating records.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure work areas, docks, and storage areas are clean, organized, and safe.
- Communicate discrepancies, damages, or delays to appropriate departments.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.
Surplus Duties:
- Manage the intake, storage, and disposition of surplus items and equipment.
- Coordinate with departments to identify, tag, and track surplus inventory.
- Maintain detailed records of surplus transfers, donations, sales, or disposals.
- Ensure surplus disposal complies with company, state, and federal guidelines.
- Assist in arranging surplus auctions, listings, or redistribution efforts internally.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current Utah driver's license.
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory or ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Forklift certification a plus or willingness to obtain.
- One (1) year of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations preferred.
- Familiarity with shipping systems (e.g., UPS, FedEx, USPS software).
