Positions: Data Analyst and Data Scientist (Two Positions Available Based on Skill Level) 


Position Overview: 

A-G Associates is seeking a Data Analyst and/or a Data Scientist of varying skill levels to join our dynamic team. These roles are pivotal in delivering data-driven solutions to our clients. As a Data Analyst or Data Scientist, you will collect, manage, analyze, and interpret data to provide actionable insights and recommendations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand client goals, develop analytical solutions, and enhance decision-making processes. These external-facing positions require a strong background in data management, data analysis, statistical methods, data visualization techniques, and consulting skills. 


Key Responsibilities: 

Data Collection and Analysis: 

  • Gather, clean, and organize data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and external data feeds. 
  • Conduct statistical analysis (e.g., build predictive models) to uncover trends, patterns, and insights. 
  • Ensure data quality and consistency across various systems and reports. 

Data Visualization and Reporting: 

  • Design and develop interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools like R, Python, Tableau, or Power BI. Translate data findings into actionable insights and present them to management and other stakeholders to support decision-making. 

Collaboration and Communication: 

  • Collaborate with teammates, project managers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to define data requirements and translate them into analytical solutions. 
  • Make data-driven recommendations to improve business processes, enhance operational efficiency, and inform strategic decision-making. 
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to establish trust and credibility as a data expert. 

Consulting Skills: 

  • Engage with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored data solutions, including outputs in software like Excel, Word, or PowerPoint. 
  • Demonstrate excellent consulting skills to manage client expectations and deliver high-quality outcomes. 
  • Provide training and support to clients on data tools and methodologies. 

Process Improvement: 

  • Propose and implement process improvements to enhance, optimize, and automate data collection, processing, analysis, and reporting. 
  • Stay current with the latest data analysis tools, techniques, and industry best practices. 

Company Capacity Building and Mentorship: 

  • Co-lead/facilitate a community of continuous, collaborative learning across the company, with proven “soft skills” to support these internal training and mentorship initiatives. 
  • Desire to support business development is a plus also, with or without previous experience.  

Requirements

Required Qualifications: We are looking for candidates with varying levels of experience and expertise. The specific qualifications may vary depending on the position level: 


Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree:?In a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, economics, or computer science. A master's degree is preferred for senior-level positions. 
  • Entry-Level: 0-2 years of experience as a data analyst, data scientist, or business intelligence analyst. 
  • Mid-Level: 2-5 years of experience. 
  • Senior-Level: 5+ years of experience. 

Technical Skills: 

  • Proficient in SQL, Excel, SAS (or other statistical software), and data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI. 
  • Experience with Python (pandas) or R programming (tidyverse) is preferred—nuanced understanding of more advanced, useful packages and writing functions or desire to learn a plus. Knowledge of Shiny, Quarto, and similar tools is a plus.   
  • Senior-level positions may require advanced training, technical skills and experience with complex data projects. 

Analytical Skills:?Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to derive meaningful insights from data. 

Communication Skills:?Excellent communication skills to present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

Consulting Skills: Demonstrated consulting skills with experience in managing client relationships and delivering tailored solutions. 


Experience with Federal Clients: 

  • Experience working with Federal clients, especially DoD, is highly desirable. 
  • Specific external consulting experience with Federal clients is highly desirable. 

Additional Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and database management concepts is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with the Defense consulting business landscape is desirable. 

Security Clearance:?Ability to complete a Department of Defense (DoD) background check, and U.S. citizenship is required. 


Location: A-G Associates is based in Columbia, MD. These positions can be local, remote, or hybrid, with occasional travel to client sites. Staff local to the office in Columbia, MD are required to come into the company office one day per week.
