Incumbent is responsible for coordinating a broad range of activities and operations related to museum management, including supervising assigned staff.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Receives general direction from the Assistant Recreation Manager and higher-level management staff.
Position Duties
2. Coordinates and assigns day-to-day activities of assigned staff and prioritizes projects relating to Fort Caspar Museum facility or area.
3. Develops, organizes, and evaluates the design and development of exhibitions, including identifying community needs, evaluating trends, recommending new/revised programs, and scheduling facilities, staff, contractors, and equipment.
4. Develops and implements outreach strategies to gather input and feedback from the community through surveys, events, and public forums.
5. Serves as the staff liaison to the Casper Historic Preservation Commission, providing administrative support, coordinating meetings and agendas, assisting with preservation projects, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal historic preservation guidelines.
6. Assists with budget preparation and administration; prepares cost estimates and justifications for budget items; submits and approves invoices for payment, and monitors expenses to align with budget allocated utilizing the City’s central financial software system.
7. Monitors equipment and supply inventories; purchases equipment and supplies as needed; maintains equipment, as necessary.
8. Establishes schedules and methods for providing museum services; identifies resource needs; reviews needs with appropriate management staff; and allocates resources accordingly.
9. Keeps current on new trends and innovations in museum operations.
10. Prepares grant proposals and operational and statistical reports to assist the Assistant Recreation Manager.
11. Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
12. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
•High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required.
•Minimum of two (2) years of experience working as a supervisor.
•Minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in the administration of museum programs.
•Associate degree in administration of museum studies, history, American studies, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed below.
•Bachelor’s degree preferred.
LICENSING and CERTIFICATIONS
•Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Wyoming driver’s license preferred.

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
