Description
ARM Group LLC is seeking a Field/CAD Technician for our Geotechnical & Construction Testing practice area. A Field/CAD Technician you will collaborate with a team of multi-disciplined engineers and scientists, project managers, and other staff to provide a wide range of field-based observation and testing services during the study, implementation, and/or construction phases of projects in a variety of industries. The Field/CAD Technician should have the desire and ability to travel and support a wide range of projects throughout our service area.
Locations: This position can be filled in our Jessup, PA office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed CAD drawings for geotechnical site plans, borehole logs, grading plans, and foundation layouts.
- Produce drawings and technical schematics for geotechnical reports, including layouts.
- Revise and update designs based on field data, test results, and project modifications.
- Convert field sketches, field tests, and inspection data into technical drawings and documentation.
- Perform construction quality assurance / construction quality control field inspections.
- Conduct material laboratory quality control testing.
- Perform density testing, and observation of soil placement.
- Perform field testing of concrete, soil/aggregate/bituminous paving materials.
- Monitoring subsurface investigations including exploratory borings, geoprobing, and environmental sampling.
- Monitor foundation/geotechnical and related construction activities.
- Prepare daily field reports and test summaries documenting the work being performed in a timely fashion.
- Effectively communicate with key stake holders including project managers, project engineers, contractors and others depending on the project and job tasks.
Requirements
Base Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Drivers License in good standing.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other relevant drafting software.
- Ability to travel to and from job sites, including potentially overnight stay.
- Team oriented with the ability to perform independent hands-on fieldwork.
- A self-starter possessing strong verbal and written communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and organizational skills.
Preferred Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Physical Requirements:
- This is a safety sensitive position.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely without restrictions on a daily basis.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Ability to frequently lift 30-60 lbs.; occasionally lift 60-100 lbs.
- Ability to frequently carry 30-60 lbs. up to 30’; occasionally carry 60-100 lbs. up to 30’.
- Desire to work outside in all climates and conditions.
- Ability to walk and stand continuously throughout the day, often on uneven surfaces with frequent bending and stooping – 8-10 hours per day.
