The purpose of the Airside Operations & Safety Officer is to have oversight and tactical management of the apron and airfield to ensure a safe, smooth, and efficient airside operation. The role oversight includes, but is not limited to, stand/turnaround management, handler/third party/ATC and other stakeholder interface, safety investigation, GSE management and enforcement, incident response and management and worksite compliance. The role is an Authorised Officer ensuring Airport Directions and byelaws are adhered to. The holder will be required to be dynamic in approach to drive strong reliability in a safe operation and will drive a safety culture through engagement with airside partners to ensure a highly effective operation in line with EASA regulations and daa Safety Management System.
Upon successful completion of assessment and interview, the successful candidate will begin a comprehensive training programme. As part of this training programme there will continuous assessments to measure the progress of the individual as they develop in the role. There will be a final assessment to ensure competency of the individual before going solo in the live environment which includes assessment on Radiotelephony and Safety Critical Tasks.
The role reports to the Service Delivery Manager Airside on a 24/7 shift basis. It is our intention to form a panel if suitable candidates are identified.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively support the SDM-A to deliver exceptional service to all stakeholders both internal and external to the highest performance standards.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements, with emphasis on Airport by-laws, EASA Regulations, Aerodrome Manual, SMS, ICAO annexes and Airport Directions.
- Inspecting and ensuring parking stands, ramp, GSE parking, lighting, AVDGS, markings etc are fully serviceable to airside operations.
- Providing “Follow Me” services for aircraft, marshalling and vehicle banks person duties as required.
- Ensure airside works are carried out safely with appropriate risk assessments in place.
- Support the Airside Operations Management team to ensure a strong interface between the planning and delivery functions and support the implementation of standards, plans and SOPs into the operation.
- Provision of timely and accurate management reporting data, ensuring effective and appropriate communication and information flows.
- Ensure safe systems and methods of work are employed and complied with always and ensuring full compliance in every aspect of health and safety within airfield area on a shift basis.
- Co-ordinate and successfully execute emergency/contingency response in accordance with emergency plans, procedures and protocols and coordinate the operational response to all Dublin Airport unplanned or extraordinary events.
- Ensure appropriate communication and information transmission to/from APOC and Service Delivery Manager on shift to ensure highly effective and joined up interactions and escalations.
- Fully support the Airside Management Team as part of the roll out and delivery of the Winter operations plan.
- Provide operational assistance to ATC as required.
- Managing, escorting, and positioning aircraft for engine runs.
- Monitoring and ensuring operational safety during non-standard aircraft movements.
- Liaising with Infrastructure and Asset Management daily to ensure construction and maintenance works are carried out in a safe and compliant manner.
- Ensuring Airside remains safe for all users during adverse weather including but not limited to: Snow & Ice, High Winds and Low-Vis.
- Report safety occurrences on safety reporting system and conduct Airside accident and incident investigations and submit reports to daa Management and Safety Departments.
- As an Authorised officer maintain a safe operation environment by enforcing airside rules and regulations and policing ramp activities.
- Conducting daily audits and inspections on the manoeuvring area as required
- Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections/check points as well as ensuring all vehicle permits are compliant.

- Full clean driving license (B, W licenses essential, BE license desirable)
- A thorough knowledge of ICAO/EASA Regulations, SMS, Airport Directions, Aerodrome Manual and Airport Bye- Laws.
- Strong technical knowledge of Dublin Airport.
- A thorough knowledge of Airline and Airport operations associated with the wider Airside operations.
- Strong awareness of the duty of care that all staff have both to themselves and to others and the environment, while operating on the airside.
- Awareness of current health and safety legislation (Health, Safety and Welfare at Work Act, 2005) and how it impacts on the role.
