The Prince George’s County Department of Permitting, Inspections, & Enforcement is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill an Administrative Aide III (Administrative Aide III 3A) grade A17 position, in the Admin Pool Division.
About the Position
This position provides administrative and secretarial support to the Enforcement Division. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of administrative procedures, and exercise mature judgment in following through on assignments.About The Agency
The Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE) is responsible for coordinating and enforcing standards that control what goes on before, during, and after construction. Staff from nine agencies, who work cooperatively on permit processing, business licensing, plan review, inspection and enforcement comprise Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement. The Mission of the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement is to promote economic development in Prince George's County and protect the safety of County residents, businesses, and visitors through efficient permitting, inspection and licensing services to ensure compliance with established building, zoning and property standards codes.
Position Duties
Assists and relieves the Unit Supervisor of administrative tasks and responsibilities regarding day-to-day operations. Prepares correspondences, letters, reports, statistical charts, payment requests, forms and other related documents for the Division Proofreads and edits materials to eliminate errors and ensure correct grammar, spelling and punctuation Screens telephone calls and incoming mail Answers questions related to office or department operations Handles payroll Prepares operational/activity reports Resolves complaints or refers them as appropriate Greets visitors and provides accurate information, as needed Responds to citizen complaints to determine jurisdiction, nature and validity Gathers budgetary and personnel data
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have experience in the Administrative Aide II level equal to the length of the probationary period
- Associate's degree in business administration or Secretarial Science
- One (1) year of secretarial/administrative experience which involved working with the public, office management and operational details
- Applicant must be proficient in typing where required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with AVAYA, KRONOS & SAP

Applicants who meet minimum qualifications must pass an administered Administrative Aide exam. Applicants who have previously taken the exam on or after 8/1/2024, and passed, will not be required to re-test; instead, previously test scores will be used to receive the passing disposition.
Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties, if applicable.
May be required to successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, motor vehicle background check and drug screenings, where applicable.
Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
