About the Department

The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) is seeking applications for their FSL Student Connector position. The FSL Student Connector will make a positive change on campus and in the community by helping their peers to build community, identify service opportunities, and promote Greek Life. The FSL Student Connector will support the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life with developing training materials, planning and executing events, and supporting our FSL leaders.


Duties Include:

  • Collaborate with both the Director and Graduate Assistant(s) (GA) of Fraternity and Sorority Lifeto assist in the planning and execution ofFSLevents, workshops, and programs.
  • Support event marketing efforts with the GA in creating flyers, social media posts, managing Crimson Connect, and other promotional materials.
  • Help with on-site tasks such as check-in and clean up for FSL events (IUP Day, Winter-Warm Up, Greek 101, etc.)
  • Assist with any administrative tasks that may arise throughout the work day and week (i.e, scheduling appointments, maintaining records, organizing materials, etc)
  • Help manage Crimson Connect to post updates and engage with students in a virtual setting. 
  • Assist in the development of programs and events that promote diversity, inclusion and leadership development.
  • Track participation and collect feedback from students through Crimson Connect to help with the improvement of FSL programs. 
  • Engage in creative ways to increase student interest and participation in FSL and campus opportunities. 
  • Work closely with office staff and other student assistants to accomplish assigned tasks and projects. 
  • Attend any scheduled team meetings to discuss upcoming events, share ideas, and provide feedback. 
  • Participate in any training sessions offered by the office to enhance skills and knowledge. 
  • Develop strategies to increase engagement in the FSL community and across campus, using analytics to inform future content and events.
  • Work closely with the FSL team to ensure all content and events support the overall mission of building an inclusive and welcoming environment on campus.
  • Assist in searching for service opportunities for the FSLcommunity.

The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life seeks candidates who possess strong communication skills and cross-cultural competencies to effectively engage with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members. Applicants should demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a sense of responsibility in all interactions and tasks. Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well during the interview(s).

Minimum Qualifications

The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:

  1. Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
  2. Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public
  3. Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment.
  4. Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
  5. Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
  6. Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
  7. Follow oral and written instructions
