Director of Regulatory Initiatives


Position Summary:
The Director of Regulatory Initiatives serves as the principal deputy to the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, supporting the development, submission, and oversight of regulatory, accreditation, and growth initiatives. This role is instrumental in coordinating institutional responses to external oversight bodies and ensuring timely, accurate, and mission-aligned reporting across jurisdictions and program areas.


Key Responsibilities:


Regulatory Compliance and Reporting

  • Prepare, review, and/or submit institutional reports and applications to state, federal, and international regulatory agencies (e.g., BPPE, BRN, PEQAB, SEVP)
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation and state regulatory standards and support the preparation of substantive change proposals, interim reports, and regulatory visit logistics.
  • Monitor changing regulatory environments and proactively adjust internal policies and procedures to maintain compliance and readiness.

Expansion Initiatives

  • Draft and coordinate components of substantive change applications for new campuses, degree programs, and delivery modalities.
  • Assist in gathering evidence, data, and documentation required for accreditation reaffirmation, mid-cycle reviews, and third-party evaluations.

Project Management & Executive Support

  • Serve as a project manager for initiatives related to institutional growth, such as international expansion, program licensing, or new site development.
  • Draft presentations, white papers, and policy briefs in support of the Vice President’s executive communications and decision-making needs.

Liaison & Representation

  • Represent the university in meetings with regulatory and accrediting bodies under the direction of the VP.
  • Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government officials, partner institutions, and faculty governance leaders.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree required; doctoral degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in higher education administration, with at least 2 years in regulatory, accreditation, or compliance-related work.
  • Familiarity with accreditation, state, and federal regulations in higher education.
  • Strong technical writing and project management skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policy across diverse institutional contexts.
