The Animal Rescue Coordinator role is for individuals passionate about animal welfare and community engagement. They will coordinate, plan, and execute a variety of outreach programs, including adoption events, educational workshops, and animal wellness initiatives. The position requires independent decision-making, sound judgment, and a commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants. Coordinators will also be responsible for showcasing adoptable animals through social media, videos, and photography, while building strong relationships with rescue groups and the public.

Our Ideal Candidate
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and two years of experience in the care and handling of animals; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Ability to obtain a P.C. 832 certification and pass a breed identification and symptoms of disease test within one year of employment.
THE ANIMAL SERVICES DIVISION
The Animal Services Division provides animal care and protection services for our community. Operating under the Community Development Department, we are committed to providing:
- Quality humane animal services and sheltering
- Rabies control through investigation of animal bites
- Control of stray animals, licensing, and public education
- Public veterinary services
- Pet adoptions, lost and found services and humane education
- Enforcement of public safety
- Animal cruelty and nuisance ordinances
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
The Community Development Department (CDD) provides a variety of development, business and property owner services. The CDD administers development review and project entitlement activities, performs long range planning, and maintains the City’s General Plan. The department also performs building plan review, issues various permits and performs inspections for new and altered projects. The CDD manages a comprehensive community enhancement program that includes nuisance abatement, and parking control among a host of other services. The department oversees the full-service operations for Animal Services including animal care, adoption, and public safety.
